I spoke with the customer service the day after I ordered. I told her that I didn't want either item I was charged. Barely speaking English she said they would be taken off. The club membership was taken off, but the recipe book and the additional $4.95 for a book that weighs less than 2ounces was added to my bill. They are not open on the weekend, but I will call on Monday AGAIN. In the meantime I will get with my credit card company and dispute the charge. If all of this does not work, I will as I said file with the FTC.

$14.95 is not the issue, the issue is that thousands of people of charged this and that become a huge income for this company. My taste is soured over this company. even if this product is great, I will look at Kathy and this company as rip off artists.

A quick but major update.

There are actually 2 different versions of the RSG. When QVC premiered it, GAIAM made a better version. BUT, that version is no longer sold. The majority of the models out there are the old version. And yes, food sticks if you don't use a lot of non stick spray, and the coating comes off pretty easily. Especially if food sticks and you're scrubbing it off.

My better version RSG eventually did start to peel after about a year. But that was with heavy use and I did use metal utensils a couple of times. Nothing ever stuck to it and I don't remember having to use any cooking spray. The coating was a lot thicker.

The way you can tell which version you have is by looking at the 7 digit ETL number found on the bottom of the cooker. The regular version's number is 3092074. The better version's number is 3025655.

My tips for getting the most out of the regular version.
1. Use a good amount of non-stick spray.
2. When done cooking, turn the unit off, pour in enough water to cover the bottom, and close the top. This will steam/deglaze the cooker, making it easier to clean and decreasing the chances that the coating will come off.

I love this little gadget....and I must say it is little!! It appears so much bigger on tv. But that being said - I simply adore this gadget. I only had it for a week but so far I've made paninas, pizza, corn dogs, fish, meatballs, fish, and potatoes....and I'm not a cook!! The recipes are pretty easy and basic to follow. Everything has been yummy, except the fish, but that's because I didn't season it properly. Things to note: it is not a magic machine. You still have to have some basic skills in the kitchen to get food the way you want it. The top doesn't always brown as fast, but depending on what you are making - simply turn your food over and let the "top" brown on the "bottom". It is not designed for family meals - unless you are a family of 1 or 2. It's great for cooking with kids -just the newness of the machine has encourage by 7 and 12 year old to try something different and new each day (our traditional meals were getting so boring!!!) I'm glad I have 2 machines, if and when the 1st one burns out I'll just use the 2nd! I paid reduced shipping fees by checking the website often to see if there were any price changes. Thanks to someone else's post I was careful to check "no" to every offer of additional recipes or pans. I can alway go back and order if I think I need them. Overall I am very pleased...if and when the machines stop working I won't be upset - I mean they are only $40.00 - not $400. I'm sure I already saved this amount of money by not eating out the past week.

its a great product. read the instructions. if u bake a cake in regular oven & it says 350 deg- for30mins u dont cook it at 450 your going to burn it. a little comminsense goes along ways. a little cooking spray will help a lot. if u watched cathy she sprays a little before cooking some items i have non stick frying pans which stick & burn.a little spray did the trick why ruin a good product for others. i dont get a dime for this comment its just the way it is

THIS THING IS HORRID- My aunt got me one for my birthday. She ordered four of these. I broke out mine right away. I've seen the infomercial so many times and was so excited to get one.... BIG mistake! First thing I did was season the teflon. After that I nonstick sprayed the pan even though it said you didn't have to. I used pam, put the tuna steak in, and set it for the 8 min suggested time for a red meat steak of the same size. I came back 8 minutes later the entire bottom of my tuna was burnt, the top was cooked nice, but the inside was RAW, so I had to cook it longer and further burn the bottom. The teflon was already chipping off and i NEVER TOUCHED it with anything but the spatula they gave me. I soaked it for 20 minutes and it took 5 minutes of straight elbow grease to clean. I then get a whim to make a turkey burger later in the day. HORRID, worse than the tuna steak, the entire thing was burnt top and bottom, and when I cut it open so raw, my onions that I added were shriveled and burnt. Cleaning this will be a mess. I do not suggest this, I think since we ordered so many with such HIGH faith based on reviews and the infomercial not only should the price of the units be refunded but the price of shipping to and from, not fair to waste all this money on a product that claims to do so much. We'd have been better off buying a mini-George foreman. Ohhh my god the only thing it cooked perfect was an omelette and by my standards the omelette was too runny on the inside. UGH VERY DISAPPOINTED

I love what the machine does, in the time it does it especially, i have done the omlet, steaks, pizza. .the pastromi wrap is delicious! Not too much for the sweets so have not tried that yet.
I want to try the fried chicken but i have had the problem and see i am not alone with the teflon bubbling up and peeling off the bottom after a few uses.
The first machine i purchased the timer stopped working and the outer number quickly rubbed off when washed with simple dish soap. I called the 800 number customer service and another was sent to me, this one so far works fine but again. . . the numbers are washing off the machine. Also the teflon is blistered and peeling off the bottom profusely. Its also doing same at the top.
I think its a great little machine but i think that someone in charge of it needs to get on whatever company is manufacturing it because they are obviously skimping on the amount of teflon used, it may be peeling cause its too thin a layer of teflon for the heat the machine puts out, the paint on outside certainly is NOT permanent type paint to wipe off with normal dish soap after just a couple of washings, even the words on/off are wiping off.
Maybe it was just out of the same batch of a bad shippment lot or something. I know where the numbers are and as long as the timer still keeps working i can still cook with it, but that should not be happening at all.
I was wondering about using the tin foil on the bottom if it would workable and it seems others are using it, however we should not have to do that especially on a unit only 3 months old, and i have used cooking spray and such so i know its not any thing i forgot to do. However i liked what it does so much before it peeled that i purchased a couple for xmas gifts for other family members. Hope they don't have too many problems with it.
I really think whoever handles the marketing on this machine ought to get ahold of the manufactuer and give them the what to and why for and tell them to use the proper paints and proper amount of teflon or it can be given to another company who will. This is a good product here and should not let the neglegence of a manufacturer ruin its reputation or ability to be marketed.

I sure wish that they would take it one step farther and make a timer that actually shut off like a coffee machines does when its done, or goes to a low setting so food will not burn or overcook.
Maybe a grilling pan with raised grates to cook meat on for the drippings should be the next pan they make?

I just got one and do like it. One problem, though...I made the steak with mushroom recipe, and it calls for using Kitchen Bouquet, for browning purposes. The food was stuck to both surfaces, so bad, I could barely get the burnt Kitchen Bouquet off the bottom tray, and the top still looks a bit dirty! I put the no stick aluminum foil, and the unit started to smell like burnt plastic. I'm assuming it was overheating.
I decided to try it one more time with the foil, but cut the foil to fit inside the top and bottom trays. Same burning occurred, again. Even the top of the unit looks like it was starting to blister from overheating. I'm not sure how the others, who use foil, also, didn't have the same overheat problem. If anyone has a solution, would appreciate it. I do like everything I've cooked in it so far!!

I ordered my xpress RSG 5 months ago from the web site. It took 9 days, not counting weekends. There was no problems with understanding what I was ordering (my unit, my free unit, and 4 pans). We dived right in when it arrived eager to test it. One night my partner knocked it off the counter jamming the timer out of place. I called C.S. and they immediatly credited my bank account for the price of one unit. So basically I got mine for free.
It has been a blessing. I have 13 year old twin boys and they use it all the time. They use it every day. I must admit, I am a gadget girl. Most go into the 'box'. But the xpress RSG has a place on my counter, right next to my Magic Bullet.
